CapitalProof Tax is a macOS WebView application that helps Australian crypto investors prepare crypto tax evidence packs for professional review. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when you use the website, web app, and Mac app.
The public website provides product information, policy pages, support information, and static screenshots. The working application experience is intended to run inside the CapitalProof Tax macOS app.
1. What CapitalProof Tax does
CapitalProof Tax helps users import exchange CSV files, normalize transaction rows, review unresolved items, add notes, and export evidence files such as PDF, CSV, and ZIP packages. The app is not a wallet, exchange, broker, custody service, tax filing service, or tax adviser.
2. Information you may choose to import
You may choose to import or create the following information inside the app:
- CSV files exported from crypto exchanges or related services.
- Transaction dates, assets, amounts, transaction types, fees, and AUD values.
- Source names, file names, row references, and transaction hashes.
- Project settings such as country, financial year, and user mode.
- Manual notes, issue statuses, and review decisions.
- Export files generated by the app, including PDF, CSV, full ledger CSV, ZIP, and metadata files.
3. Information we do not ask for
CapitalProof Tax must not be used to enter or store highly sensitive wallet credentials. We do not ask for:
- Seed phrases or recovery phrases.
- Private keys.
- Exchange passwords.
- Withdrawal permissions.
- Custody access to crypto assets.
- Bank login credentials.
4. Local files and user-selected access
In the Mac app, file import and export are intended to use native macOS file panels. This means the app reads imported CSV files only after you select them, and exports files only after you choose a save location. The app should not silently scan folders, request full disk access, or automatically save reports without your action.
5. How imported data is processed
The app processes imported rows to create a normalized ledger, detect unresolved items, display summaries, and prepare export files. Depending on the version you use, processing may occur in the web app session, in the Mac app shell, or through app infrastructure needed to deliver the service. We aim to avoid sending sensitive transaction data unless it is necessary for a feature you choose to use.
6. Website and service data
The website may process basic technical information such as browser type, device information, pages visited, timestamps, IP address, and error logs. This information helps us operate the website, troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and protect the service. Error logs should not intentionally include imported transaction data.
7. App Store, payments, and subscriptions
If paid features are offered through the Mac App Store, payment processing and subscription management are handled by Apple. We may receive limited subscription or receipt status information needed to enable paid features, but we do not receive your full payment card details from Apple.
8. Exports contain financial information
Exported PDF, CSV, and ZIP files may contain sensitive financial and transaction information. You are responsible for choosing where to save exports and for sharing them only with trusted professionals or parties.
9. Data retention
Locally selected files and exported reports remain under your control on your device or chosen storage location. If future versions add cloud sync, accounts, or server-side project storage, the app will describe that behavior in the product and this Privacy Policy will be updated.
10. Clearing local project data
You can clear the current local project from the Help & Legal screen inside the app by choosing "Clear local project". This removes the current in-app project rows, sources, notes, issue statuses, and export state from the active app session. Exported files that you saved to your device must be deleted by you from the chosen save location.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the service. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. You should keep your device, operating system, browser, and app version updated and avoid importing files from sources you do not trust.
12. Children
CapitalProof Tax is not intended for children. The product is designed for adults preparing financial records for professional review.
13. International users
CapitalProof Tax is designed around Australian crypto tax evidence workflows. If you use the app outside Australia, you are responsible for understanding whether it is appropriate for your jurisdiction.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. The updated version will show a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after updates means you accept the updated policy.
15. Contact
