Terms of Service

Last updated: June 14, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of CapitalProof Tax, including the website, web app, and macOS application. By using CapitalProof Tax, you agree to these Terms.

The public website is for product information, policies, support, and static product screenshots. The working app experience is intended to be accessed through the CapitalProof Tax macOS app and its WebView shell.

1. Product description

CapitalProof Tax is a software tool for preparing crypto transaction evidence packs for review by users and qualified tax professionals. It can help import CSV files, normalize ledger rows, identify unresolved items, add notes, and export PDF, CSV, and ZIP files.

CapitalProof Tax is not designed to provide full working app functionality from the public marketing website. The website may describe app screens and show screenshots, but it does not provide a free browser-based version of the paid or packaged Mac app.

2. No tax, legal, or financial advice

CapitalProof Tax does not provide tax, legal, financial, accounting, investment, or compliance advice. The app does not determine your final tax position, calculate guaranteed tax payable, file tax returns, or replace a qualified professional. You are responsible for reviewing all outputs with an appropriately qualified tax professional.

3. No government endorsement

CapitalProof Tax is not affiliated with, approved by, certified by, or endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office or any other government authority. References to Australian tax concepts are provided only to describe the intended evidence review workflow.

4. Not a wallet, exchange, broker, or custody service

CapitalProof Tax does not buy, sell, trade, hold, transfer, stake, lend, borrow, or custody crypto assets. The app does not connect to wallets for custody and does not request withdrawal permissions.

5. Prohibited sensitive credentials

You must not enter, upload, paste, or store the following in CapitalProof Tax:

  • Seed phrases or recovery phrases.
  • Private keys.
  • Exchange passwords.
  • Bank passwords.
  • API keys with trading, withdrawal, or custody permissions.

6. Your responsibility for imported data

The accuracy of exports depends on the completeness and accuracy of the CSV files and information you provide. Missing transactions, incomplete exchange exports, wrong classifications, missing AUD values, unsupported formats, or manual edits may cause reports to be incomplete or inaccurate.

7. Review of outputs

You must review all generated ledgers, summaries, notes, and exports before relying on them. CapitalProof Tax may identify possible issues, but it cannot guarantee that every issue has been detected or resolved.

8. File import and export

In the Mac app, file import and export are intended to use user-selected macOS file panels. You choose which CSV files to import and where to save generated PDF, CSV, and ZIP files. You are responsible for storing exported files securely and sharing them only with trusted recipients.

9. Paid features and App Store purchases

If CapitalProof Tax offers paid features, purchases and subscriptions may be processed through the Mac App Store and Apple StoreKit. Apple may manage billing, refunds, renewals, cancellations, and payment information according to Apple's terms and policies.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the app or website. You must not:

  • Use the app to break laws or evade tax obligations.
  • Attempt to bypass app access controls, payment controls, or security controls.
  • Upload malicious files or attempt to disrupt the service.
  • Reverse engineer the app except where permitted by law.
  • Use outputs as professional advice without independent review.

11. Availability and changes

We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We may add or remove supported CSV formats, export formats, or review tools as the product evolves.

12. Third-party services and data sources

CapitalProof Tax may refer to exchanges, wallets, blockchains, or tax concepts for compatibility and workflow purposes. We are not responsible for third-party CSV formats, data quality, exchange availability, pricing data, or external services.

13. Disclaimers

CapitalProof Tax is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, tax compliance, uninterrupted availability, and error-free operation.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CapitalProof Tax and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, tax penalties, missed filings, professional fees, or losses arising from reliance on generated outputs.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, misuse the service, or create risk for the app, other users, or the service infrastructure.

16. Privacy

Your use of CapitalProof Tax is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how information may be processed when using the website, web app, and Mac app.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the product changes. The updated version will show a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of CapitalProof Tax after updates means you accept the updated Terms.
